Burnage Media Arts College - Human Resources - Jobs vacancies & offers

Lead Teacher of Science

MPS+ TLR 1a (£7,323)

  • The closing date is Friday 24th February 2012 at 9.00am.
  • Interviews will be held on Thursday 8th March 2012.

Background

Burnage Media Arts College is an increasingly successful 11-16 Boys comprehensive that draws its students from the Longsight, Levenshulme, Rusholme and Burnage wards. We currently have 840 boys on roll. Pupils are increasingly successful at GCSE with 58% of boys achieving 5 A*-C in 2011. The percentage of boys achieving 5A*-C including English and Maths has increased from 43% in 2010 to 49% in 2011. However, even though the boys last year did so well we do not believe the results are as good as they should be and we are working hard to sustain and accelerate this upward trend.

At BMAC we encourage the boys to 'Be the Best that you can be' and this runs deeper than academic success alone; it also extends to attendance, behaviour and morality.

The Science faculty at BMAC is currently going through a time of great changes; this pervades all aspects of our practice, including staffing, teaching, learning, assessment and how we use the learning environment.
